From New Things

Yesterday, I was having such a bad day. It was one of those days where you wake up and can not shake the "bad day" ness off the whole day. My hubby left yesterday in the wee hours of the morning to travel overseas to work. He will be back in 5 weeks. He has been working this rotation for well over a year now, and it is still very hard to send him off. Therefore, my bad morning and day.

Well, yesterday, I went to check the mail, actually, I dropped my son off in front of the box to check the mail and he was so excited. We had the "package key" in our mailbox which meant, well, that we had a package.  Amazing with all the new technology we have, all of us still get excited to receive a little something in the good old fashioned snail-mail.  I definitely was, especially when I saw the package was for little ole me. Me? I never get anything except bills and junk mail. Well, when I ripped the package open, I saw it was a beautifully wrapped gift.  Inside was the book pictured above. You see, my Secret Elf from TWD and I, had trouble with my e-mail delivering her address request to me through Elfster (found it accidentally in spam mail), so our exchange was late, but it came at the perfect time. It really brought a smile to my face, especially her wonderfully written card, which I much confess, brought out a few tears and a huge, beaming smile that lasted for the rest of the night.  People and kindness, what a great combination! Thanks so much,  Christine! Go check out my not-so-secret elf out at her blog, Happy Tummy!

Another great combination is my camera and Eye-Fi memory card. This card is great! I just insert it into my camera (or any digi cam) and it automatically uploads all my pictures from my camera to my photo organizer, which is i-Photo (my hubby got me into using a Mac). However, you can use it to upload to any and all of your photo organizers, such as Flickr and Picasa. It works through wireless internet, so I can take all my food pics downstairs, forget my camera on the counter (which i do often), and not worry. As long as my camera is on, the pictures will be uploaded to my i-Photo, and voila, I am good to start editing, upstairs at my desk. Thanks, hubby, for my nifty new present. I love it!  My hubby is a techno-geek, so if you want to ask him about it or learn more about it or anything, just ask him on his site,  Gabe's Gadgets, and he will give you easy to understand answers and such. Please encourage him not to give up on his site, too.

From New Things

Well, I am going to try to get some baking in. I may even try a new recipe from my new Easy Cookies book!

It must be tough to have your husband away for 5 weeks! Mine is gone for a week to Brazil and then he goes to various other countries on week-long trips all in a row in January but he does come back for a day or two in between the trips.
