I mean really this picture says it all!
This was a great pick. I absolutely LOVE chocolate. I am crazy for it. I am a chocolate fiend. I am a certifiable chocoholic!!!
I love everything about this recipe. I could have eaten each part of it stand alone, from the batter to the cookies and melted chocolate. I was in heaven. It tasted like the center of a truffle.
I waited to post this, because I made it early this morning to share with my dearest friends who are expecting any day now. I catered a small dinner for their family of three, soon to be four, to help out. I wanted to surprise them with this decadent dessert, so now that I have, here is the post.
Now before you all ooh and aah and write what a great friend I am, I only gave them some of the torte, not all. My addiction is that bad. I mean really bad. I left some home for me, I mean us. I did make up for my lack of total selflessness, by giving them strawberries filled with Dorie's whipped almond cream.

The only substitutions I made were adding in Emerald's dark chocolate cocoa flavored almonds for regular almonds and topping this beauty up with Hershey's dark chocolate mini kisses, instead of extra amarettini cookies (which I just learned about from TWD). I also chose to use the whipped topping for my side of strawberries, not on the torte itself. I also dusted this baby with cocoa and drizzled with chocolate syrup. I mean why not? It tasted like a truffle already.
From beginning to end, this desert is awesome! I licked the batter, snacked on some almonds and cookies, licked some whipped cream off the spatula. This is one of my TWD favorites, and I know that I will make this again soon, really soon. It is simple and elegant. It would be a nice touch for a romantic dinner! Ooh, lala. There go those endorphins from the chocolate kicking in!

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Holly for choosing this recipe. Go check out her site for the recipe and her worthwhile cause, Blogging for Babies, on behalf of the March of Dimes and helping out premature babies.
Also, check out TWD's site to see what the other chocoholics created.
I can hardly wait for the other chocolate desserts we are about to try out over the next few weeks. Stay tuned.
Next up: Four Star Chocolate Bread (that gave me chills!) and my treadmill.

Oh I love the idea of piping the cream into the strawberries. What a great presentation trick.
Oh boy, this looks so incredibly decadent! Amazing!
So.....I guess that means you really, really, really liked the cake? ha ha ha ha.
I am a certified chocoholic too but I just wasn't feeling the vibe with this one. Maybe I'm a straight chocolate kind of girl!
Wow, glad you enjoyed it so much!! It was a bit too rich for me but I can see how a chocoholic would love it :)
Your presentation is very pretty! The inside of a truffle is the perfect way to describe this torte.
Good heavens. That is so dark it is sinful!
Wow that looks decadent and delish! Sent a piece my way willya?
Wow, your's looks super fancy! The dark chocolate coated almonds sound fabulous.
I enjoyed this recipe, too, but think I might have liked the armagnac cake more.
Your torte looks wonderful. I love the way you decorated it. YUM.
Oh, that torte is so decadent and chocolatey! Yum!
Oh, my that photo really does say it all...for a chocolate lover! Tee hee...which I am not, but don'tchaknow that all my guys are so they would be in chocolate heaven. So cute with all those bits on the top...very creative. Your guests must have felt SO SPECIAL! Great job!
The picture really does say it all. It looks amazing!!!
Wow, i love your cream filled strawberries and the chocolate chips on the cake. :)
Can you believe I am just starting to realize that I like chocolate (thought i didn't for a long time!) Crazy right? Your torte looks great.
Oh this looks amazing, I am a chocolate fiend, this is so for me>.
I'll say like you... I almost ate more of the cake making it, than after. Licking the batter, eating a little almond here, a little cookie there... LOL Plus, the tort was such a hit, it almost flew on its own!
Yours looks very nice... and I'm sure there's not a crumb left! lol
STOP IT WITH THOSE STRAWBERRIES! That is a fantastic idea! I am SO doing that!
This looks like pure chocolate bliss! I bet it was great with the strawberries. And you saved your friend who is expecting from ingesting too much sugar, plus there is caffeine in chocolate, so way to go for sheltering her from so many things that could be bad for her!
This seriously looks TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE! OH MY GOSH!
