What's Going On?

Hi, everyone! Are my peeps still out there? First, let me apologize for not visiting Blogtopia for a while. I have been crazy busy with not only my kids, but with others' as well. It has been rewarding and challenging, but in the end, I am happy to help out other mothers and be a small part of the kids' worlds. I have not had much time to cook or bake anything blog-worthy. In fact, my life has been revolving around Goldfish, juice boxes, grapes, corn dogs, chicken nuggets, Cheez-Its, and all kinds of kid activities. I have no plans on being a part of snack time any time soon!

I have been reading up and planning some recipe ideas for things to try out over the next weeks. Hopefully, I can get to them this week, when I find myself going back to my kids, not mine plus 6!

Since my absence so many things have happened in the world; John and Kate will separate,  Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, and MJ have left us for the big stage upstairs, and Billy Mays (who my hubby teasingly called my boyfriend) also passed on, and a political revolution continues on in Iran.

Somehow, through all this and that, I managed to churn out two milestone cakes and am now posting them!

The Dora cake was for a 1rst birthday party. In the picture, you see her left shoe is outlined darker than her right one. I had to do a quick touch up on it, before sending her out. However, the darker outline did fade upon drying over night to match the right shoe again!  I was not at the party, so I could not photograph the "after" result.

The chocolate cake below Dora was for a 50th birthday party. It really was all chocolate. It was Devil's Food chocolate cake frosted with dark chocolate ganache mixed with melted bark chocolate. It was topped with  long stemmed strawberries dipped in bark chocolate and chocolate shavings. I waited too long to photograph the cake. I waited to photograph it at the party, instead of my kitchen. The lighting in the apartment was very dark. Since the cake was chocolate, I could not brave to take outside in 100F heat for better lighting for fear it might begin to melt.

There you have it. My vida loca.

Well, it is time to take the kids to the pool, then to VBS.

I hope to be back regularly like I was in the good ole days!

Sorry I have been MIA, I have been so busy, but it has made me feel so bad not to have time to comment. So, I hear you on the busy, except I don't have any kids! Hope all is well and that cake looks amazing.
