Tonight was my hubby's turn to cook.  Earlier, I so casually mentioned in the grocery store that it would be nice to have grilled hot dogs at the park after swim practice.  Next thing I know, we are at the park after swim practice watching a tee ball practice, while eating hot, smoky, grilled hot dogs with mustard, chili and cheese. PERFECT.  It was nice, especially since we had this impromptu picnic in the middle of a school week. It is like playing hooky from school or going to watch a movie in the middle of the day. The boys gobbled pieces of their dogs,  only to jet off and leave us to go play with their friends, while my hubby and I talked and ate the rest of their leftover chili cheese dogs. Kids just do not know what they are missing out on sometimes.

It is funny how we tend to complicate life, even food. Tonight, I enjoyed this outdoor simplicity more than I would any fancy shmancy overpriced restaurant dinner and I enjoyed it wearing shorts, a baseball cap, and flip flops!

Thanks for dinner, baby.

Don't forget to answer my question on the previous post.

It is always fun to do stuff in the middle of the school week like the park. I guess it makes you remember there is other stuff besides school. What a perfect dinner! :)

I love a simple dinner. Grilled burgers, potato salad - it doesn't get much better than that.
