Here is how it turned out.

Anytime baked apples are concerned, I am always tempted to add cinnamon-sugar and caramel sauce. It must be the Tex-Mex in me, so that is what I did. I baked this really easy apple tart using Pepperidge Farm puff pastry, Golden Delicious Apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon-sugar mix. It took about 20 minutes to bake. When it was done, I garnished the tartlets with caramel sauce, toasted pecan bits, and whipped topping.

Dorie recommends that you serve the tartlets the day you bake them, warm or at room temperature, so my young son and I obediently ate ours for breakfast!
It was a great treat to keep me from crying for my hubby (at least for now) and reflect instead on the great date night we had last night, in spite of the terrible movie we watched, The Hangover. Of course, he liked it. I was rolling my eyes through the whole thing and waiting for the great side busting humor that never came, but we were together. We had just had a nice dinner and after dinner drinks, I beat him in table shuffleboard, and we were in a cool theater with hot popcorn. Life is good.
I can hardly wait for him to come back home.
Okay, now I might cry.
Thanks, Jessica, from My Baking Heart (this easy recipe can be found there!) for selecting this week's easy but wonderful tartlet treat!
I think I might try a savory version of this recipe soon. I am thinking along the lines of apples, cooked pork, and caramelized onions. What do you think?

Thanks so much for baking along with me this week! Your tartlet is beautiful! :)
I love your version! Caramel makes everything better. I hope the 5 weeks goes fast for you!
That is my perfect dessert! I guess I should not whine as my hubby leaves for Europe for 2 weeks, 5 is a hell of a long time. Hugs to you!
It looks so good with the cinnamon sugar and caramel sauce!
Don't cry - bake more puff pastry creations instead!
I think your savory version sounds great! And I really hope those 5 weeks go by quickly!
Perfect! I love your presentation! A savory version sounds intriguing!
This savory version sounds delightful. Oh 5 weeks seems like such a longtime. Hope it goes by quickly for you.
I certainly hope that the next 5 weeks FLIES by for you! I love the tarts, they were delicious. And I really think it was a great idea to add the caramel sauce! And the Hangover does seem like total guy humor. Glad one of you enjoyed it. :o)
What a nice variation on the tart, and sorry about your hubby leaving, mine travels to nicaragua a lot for work, so I know the very sad sad feeling.
The tartlet is beautiful! I hope your hubby comes home soon!!! :(
I guess the honeymoon is over. You're no longer crying when I leave. Like baking is a substitute for crying. I think NOT. Sheesh.
And the Hangover was funny. You know it was. You just wanted to act all sophisticated because you got a new hair doo.
I'm sure the ladies would love to see your new doo. You should put up a picture. :-)
Love you!!!
Oh wow, your Parisian Apple Tartlet looks soo delicious! I love your garnishings too - looks like a great dessert!
I hope the 5 weeks go by quickly!
Aww! M. travels a lot too, though usually only for a couple of weeks at a time. I'm so used to it and try to schedule my "me time" stuff for his absences. I do a ton of baking and cooking while he's gone, but he whines that I make all the good stuff while he's gone.
Your tarts look amazing and are indeed the perfect breakfast food!
Oh my gosh! These are so beautiful! I want to make them for dessert and surprise Gary. Maybe I shouldn't though since we both need to lose more than 75 pounds. YUMM O!
