Post #183: TWD Thumbprints for Us Big Guys

I have no steam in my engine. No gas in my tank. I tried to bake these cookies with as much energy as I could muster. They never took off. The shortbread texture is really good. Mine came out a little browner than desired. I baked for 8-10 minutes, rotating the baking pans halfway. Nothing worked. Still, they are easy to make. I just could not get mine to look like the book, though. Oh, well. Maybe, next time!  I opted for chocolate topping instead of jam. Just needed my chocolate fix.  The shortbread taste coupled with chocolate was really good!

Thanks to Mike of Ugly Food for an Ugly Dude for hosting this week's TWD. I am sure to follow him from now on! His site is great! Very real and down to earth. My kind of blog. Visit him and give him a shout out on his cookies. This is really a great Dorie recipe. It is so easy, good, and simple, even if you do have to splurge on the hazelnuts ($5 per 8 oz.)!

Here are my measly little cookies. I still have some dough left, so I am gonna wait until I am more refreshed to try them out again. I took these photos with my iPhone.  Too tired to trek up the stairs to get my camera.  As I always tell my hubby, those stairs will be the death of me.

Stay tuned..Will be back with a more energized post. Just wanted to go on record for TWD!

Chocolate filling!? Great idea!

I figured chocolate would be playing a big part in these with people...just too tempting not to fill those little holes with at least some chocolate, right? I resisted, but then you knew I would, right? The black raspberry ones were my favorite.

I know the feeling. Is there anything worse than when something you love feels sort of like a chore? Try it again, once you are well rested. Take care!

These look pretty delicious to me. I topped mine with chocolate, too, and they were popular. If you make them again, I found they were better if I took them out before I thought they looked done.

Chocolate always gets rave reviews and these thumbprints do look extremely scrumptious.Sometimes things actually taste better when not too much energy is exerted.
